Is your house scheduled to be on the auction block soon. If so, you need to get the money collected quick. If not, you can make a payment to retain the lawyer. Then any money you make, give to the lawyer instead of paying bills-except for regular utility bills.

Depends on the attorney and the State. It cost me about $1000 in 2002. That was before the mandatory financial classes which should be around $100.
