New General Motors
Only 4 brands in new Gm: Cadillac, GMC, Buick & Chevy
There are lots of places you can find official information about what’s happening to General Motors right now. In addition to www.gm.com/restructuring, GM has also launched a new website called re:invention. Already stocked with announcements and explanations regarding the company’s filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this morning, the website also features a handy, dandy commercial that boils down the essentials to bite-sized, bumper sticker slogans.
The minute-long commercial, which can be viewed after the jump, admits right off the bat that “No company wants to go through this,” and goes on to frame the situation like this: “GM needs to start over in order to get stronger.” Amidst a siezure-inducing barrage of scenes from Americana, the narrator explains in a nutshell that the old way wasn’t working and the new way will be “Leaner, Greener, Faster, Smarter.”

I can’t believe you said this! I’ve read hunderds of comments about this ad or GM’s post bankruptcy, and this is the only intelligent comment I’ve read!
I LOVE GM, but if they continue building twice or three times the same car, I hope from the bottom of my heart that this company will disappear. Just as much as if they don’t listen to customers like they did before. If they can build great, fuel-efficient and good-looking car, I hope it’ll become a great company…

I’d like to see GM recover, simply because it’s an American business, and the only way it CAN recover is if it gets better. Otherwise, if this is the same company that crushed hundreds of EV1s while buying the Hummer brand, produced the same model car branded for three different companies, and has a union that wants 30 and out, then I say let it sink.

It’s no wonder that division never turned a profit. Cars fit for Ken and Barbie, but no humans. I never see any Buicks in the USA either, even with all the hoopla over the Buick Lucerne

They may be able to compete in the market, but in order to grasp that number one spot… might i remind you a spot once held by GM… 67 years ago before toyota kicked them to the curb. They will have to do the same thing the foreigns did… Provide a way better product for a good cost… Some companies may make the same mistakes as the US makers did and think they can get away with cuz they the big dogs allowing GM to push forward in the market, but alot wont.

IF (and its a big if) they get their qaulity up to the new standards set by foreign auto makers… that have already lost their hold on the market… They will be small and weak, forced to restart.
