Diana … Diana Furchtgott-Roth strikes me as someone that the public would regret trusting with matters of truth, justice and civic responsibility.
I don't know her at all and she could be a very kind and sincere human being, but the impression I got of her here was one of contempt for Al Franken, whom appeared to ask her perfectly reasonable questions.
Please don't hesitate to enlighten me about Diana's virtues. I'd rather stand corrected about her than live with the foul taste I now have of her.

The fact is, Democrats wanted a better bill that would have benefited many more people, but the Republicans (in their eternal war against progress) and health insurance industries stepped in and labeled this movement "socialist", to play on the less-educated American's fears.

i dont know that … i dont know that much about the intricacies of finance, but i trust the government to at least TRY to do whats best. you can distrust certain people in government, but its a mistake to distrust the motives of the government.
Yes they are. But … Yes they are. But 45 million Americans are not covered by any form of insurance. An Franken points out, thousands of Americans have gone bankrupt because of medical expenses, and most of these are covered by insurance. If the government simply makes insurance companies cover everyone, including pre-existing conditions and covering treatments usually denied, the cost of your premiums will go up. The cheapest way to cover them is to have the government pay hospitals directly — no middleman.

I think that the current economic problems far outweigh healthcare problems, but to say that it’s socialist is just ignorant.
